Staff Directory

 Executive Director

Chandler Nutik founded Community Works of Louisiana, Inc. in February of 2009 and has acted as the organization’s Executive Director for the last four years.  Chandler has secured over $800,000 in federal, state, and foundation grants that benefit youth in Community Works programs. He has also successfully built numerous mutually beneficial partnerships and works tirelessly on creating new project and programmatic opportunities for youth.  Academically, Chandler has received a JD from Tulane Law School and an MBA from the Freeman School of Business.  In addition, he is licensed to practice law in the state of New York.  He currently serves as an Advisory Board Member for Emerging Philanthropists of New Orleans (EPNO).  Chandler is extremely passionate about the work that Community Works does and his role in helping to improve the educational landscape in New Orleans. He has helped to change the lives of many youth and continues to advocate for support for afterschool and summer programs in Louisiana.

Director of Development and Communications

ToniAnn Chetta has been with CWLA for the past two years. Working to implement strong programming, develop new partnerships, and increase funding. She graduated from American University in Washington, DC. While at American she gained valuable experience in the non-profit industry working with First Book and The National Kidney Foundation Serving the National Capital Area. She also worked for the AU Abroad office, helping students and parents gauge the international landscape. After finishing school, she returned to her hometown of New Orleans and worked in the marketing department at the Fair Grounds Race Course and Slots. She is very proud to once again be working in the non-profit industry and believes strongly in the work done by CWLA. In addition, ToniAnn also teaches ballet locally and currently performs with Ballet Hysell in New Orleans.

Site Director

Todd Shaffer has worked with Community Works of Louisiana, Inc. for the past three years as a Site Director for afterschool and summer programming. Todd has put into place a structured atmosphere that follows the Community Works mission at every program site. He has overseen programs that serve over 250 students daily and successfully offers enrichment-integrated classes and activities to Community Works’ youth. Todd has earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from The Atlanta College of Art.  For 10 years, he was director of the Modern Primitive Art Gallery in Atlanta, GA, one of the nation’s leading galleries for outsider art in the south. Todd was responsible for gallery operations as well as corporate sales for the House of Blues Collection, the largest public art collection. After moving to New Orleans, he began to focus solely on education, working for the New Orleans Museum of Art, Orleans Parish Schools, New Orleans Contemporary Arts Center, New Orleans Recreation Department and the Association for Retarded Citizens.  He has worked with students in New Orleans for the past 10 years and has dedicated himself to introducing the value of art into student learning.
